Spiranac Backs Woods After DUI Arrest, Treatment Plan

Golf influencer Paige Spiranac offered public support for Tiger Woods following his DUI arrest in Jupiter Island, Florida, after a rollover car crash. Woods pleaded not guilty, requested a jury trial and announced plans to step away from golf for treatment focused on his health. Spiranac posted on X that fans root for Woods as a person amid his challenges.

Spiranac wrote, "I think we are all rooting for Tiger. Not as a golfer but more importantly as a person. None of us can fathom what he’s been through both emotionally and physically. Not excusing any behavior, but I hope he’s able to get the help he needs in peace without the whole world dog piling on him in a very difficult situation."

Woods stated, "I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally. I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."

Deputies reported signs of impairment after the crash, including profuse sweating, lethargic movements and dilated eyes. Woods admitted distraction from his phone and radio. Authorities found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket. This arrest marks Woods' second DUI charge in a decade; he faced a similar incident in 2017 after falling asleep behind the wheel on prescription medication. The 15-time major champion also suffered severe leg injuries in a 2021 rollover crash requiring surgeries.

Woods recently returned to competition in The Golf League after back surgeries and Achilles repair. He will miss the Masters Tournament, as confirmed by Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley. Woods entered the U.S. Senior Open field, set for early July.
