Rosenqvist's car launches airborne in Sonsio Grand Prix crash
Christian Lundgaard won the NTT IndyCar Series Sonsio Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course on Saturday, his first victory since 2023. Felix Rosenqvist suffered one of the race's most dramatic incidents when his car went airborne after contact with Pato O'Ward in Turn 13 on lap 29. Rosenqvist attempted to continue but retired with heavy damage.
Rosenqvist started third but finished 23rd. He also tangled in an opening-lap incident at Turn 1 after early bumping on the frontstretch. Marcus Ericsson, Christian Rasmussen and Alexander Rossi failed to finish, while Romain Grosjean completed the race one lap down.
The crash-filled event featured 12 caution laps and six lead changes among four drivers. Lundgaard passed David Malukas with 18 laps remaining and held the lead to the checkered flag.
The Sonsio Grand Prix serves as the lead-in to the Indianapolis 500, with IndyCar drivers now preparing for the annual classic.
