Tiger Woods Handcuffed After Bodycam Sobriety Tests
Bodycam footage from the Martin County Sheriff's Office shows Tiger Woods undergoing a field sobriety test after crashing his car last week. Despite registering triple zeros on a breathalyzer, deputies cited his lethargic movements and other impairment signs to proceed with the seated tests, adapted for his injuries. Woods was handcuffed and charged with driving under the influence.
Woods informed deputies of seven back surgeries, more than 20 leg operations, a fused ankle and a limp from a 2021 car wreck that sidelined him from golf for a year. He acknowledged taking prescription medications. The tests included tracking a finger with his eyes, touching finger to nose, alternating palm and back of hand while counting one and two, and putting fists together with clapping and counting; Woods struggled with several.
A deputy then instructed Woods to turn and place hands behind his back. "I'm getting arrested?" Woods asked. "Yes sir," the deputy replied. The arrest marked Woods' second for DUI, following an incident in 2017.
Woods announced on social media he would step away from golf to seek treatment. A judge granted permission to pursue it abroad, according to court documents. In his statement, Woods said he aimed to prioritize his well-being for lasting recovery and return healthier.
